Wonder Bugs - Kids Activity

Hello - welcome to the beautiful and strange world of insects. Insects inhabit a world we often overlook. Insects can be pretty small, so we overlook them and the places they live. An insects world is from the ground up. You can find them inside the nooks and crannies of big old trees, the shallows of green ponds, the night sky as dusk falls. Insects are small, sometimes tiny and marvellous in the way they look, live and camouflage themselves.

Help Donald With His Missing Parts

Meet Donald. Donald is a beetle that is missing a few bits and pieces. Because he is an insect that needs to fly, Donald should have 6 legs, 2 antennae, and wings that unfold from underneath a hard case called an exoskeleton. Using your imagination - could you help Donald by adding in his missing parts?. Use anything you like to draw, cut and paste, or stick new and creative legs, wings, and antennae to his body. Go nuts!. No one said - 'wonderful needs to be practical'.
  • What to Do

  • Print out the image of Donald by clicking on the image link.
  • Paste him into your activity book and using your art and craft kit imagine his new body parts and wings. Watch this video of a Jewel beetle to help you get inspired.
